The Type B version 2.0 hub which has only featured in the forums since mid 2009 is mechanically different from the Type A, with a different chipset and even using a different power supply voltage. Some claim that only hubphones of type B or with type B firmware are compatible with Type B hubs whilst others claim that Type A phones do work happily with Type B hubs!. Type B hubs do not click on boot-up. This suggests no electromechanical relays are used. Further confirmed by reports that you still have to dial \"5\" to get PSTN landline calls even if BBTalk is disabled. There are firmware differences around the Telephony disable function. Oct 2009 I received an email from \"MooJuice\" which confirms this with more detail \"The 'Type B' hub seems a fair bit 'friendlier' and faster (in terms of accessing its management screens) than the Type A. The WiFi signal is identified by inSSIDer as beingGigaset rather than a Thomson Speedtouch; the firmware also uses Jungo for remote management.... It does have one obvious bug though, allocating one of the pre-defined applications to a device or IP address works, but un-assigning them doesn't; the firmware will report that the NAT rule has been removed, but when you try to re-allocate it tells you that the rule has already been applied to another device and that you should allocate to the same device again (even though that's what you already tried to do). Resetting to factory defaults does clear the problem (rebooting doesn't), and the workaround I've found to work is to create a custom rule-set that clones the pre-defined one.\" According to BT...\"BT has two suppliers for the Home Hub 2.0. The Type A is supplied by Thomson and the Type B by Sagem Communications(Sagem acquired the Gigaset broadband business in July 09). Both versions were built to the same specifications and although some internal differences can be observed the Hubs are functionally the same. The Hub Phones 2.1 are completely interoperable with both Hubs.\" BT INFINITY HUB(Extract from BT web pages 2010) \"The BT Infinity Hub has been designed specially for use with the fibre network, and is the only router that you can use. It connects your online equipment, such as computers and games consoles, to the Openreach modem, either by wires or Wi-Fi. You'll get your BT Infinity Hub in the post a few days before we install BT Infinity at your home. It's similar to the (popular) BT Home Hub 2.0, which is used for BT Total Broadband, and has the same functionality. There are a few minor differences: 1. One of the Ethernet ports on the back of the BT Infinity Hub (labelled 'Ethernet WAN') is designed exclusively to connect to the Openreach modem. 2. This means that the BT Infinity Hub only has three Ethernet ports available for connecting other devices. 3. The way you need to set up the BT Infinity Hub to make phone calls is slightly different. You'll need to connect the landline phone cable from the back of the Hub to a nearby phone extension socket (the broadband cable can double as the landline phone cable for BT Total Broadband customers). \"

Follow the bootp instructions. The easiest way to get the newer ST516/536/546/580/585 routers into bootp state is to do the following:It is helpful though not essential to have the pc with a fixed static ip. 1. Begin with the unit powered off via the power switch at the back depressed.2. Get a pin or a pen with a long enough nose to reach the reset button and hold it in.3. Continue holding your pin or... on the reset button and do not release it. Power the unit on by pressing the power button into the \"on\" state never releasing the reset.4. Hold the reset button in for around 15 seconds. The power and Ethernet light should flash between red and green.5. Run the SpeedTouch firmware upgrade wizard. You only have around 1min to start the wizard before the speedtouch will revert to the normal boot up. Note: It is always recommended to run the SpeedTouch firmware upgrade wizards with a statically set IP address on your PC of the following:IP: 10.0.0.1, Subnet: 255.0.0.0, Default Gateway: 10.0.0.138.Note: It is best to have all security programmes (firewalls, antivirus) either disabled or turned completely off. (Edit from Revs. It is absolutely essential not just best. The worst product is Symantec internet security because people don't know it is on. Turn everything symantec off (permanently would be best!!).This will ensure a successful upgrade.Regards,ScottSpeedTouch NZ Support Teamwww.speedtouch.net.nzIn NZ english pin and pen are identical items!!Don't forget when you are finished to return your network settings back to auto. Although Scott put in a gateway this is not necessary. Just the ip and subnet are enough.
m8s-rates.com/speedtouchThere you go the site is up. m8s I see you are redirecting too ugolini.com.au/speedtouch I have 30GB of space on my hosting package if you need a new home for your firmware

I wonder why Thomson does not provide anything and leaves all to volunteersThomson appears to be a real funny company..Yes, like their Partner web site, where nearly all documentations are free for public download, but they put passwords on the firmware.
I suppose ST5x6 series will never have Annex M then. (m8s growls). The v5 cannot be made annex m unless the firmware was updated, but the chip is the same as in 585 v6 so there is no reason hardware wise it shouldn't work. It is purely firmware lacking the function. Do you think the V6 hardware wise and otherwise is a better product than the v5. In terms of hardware no, the v5 was a far superior product. It cost too much to make. So they went from the top line broadcom chip as per 585 to the bottom rung chip same as askey (dynalink) RTA1320 to which it is hardware near identical. In fact the board looks like it came from another design and was modified to suit speedtouch's drive to the bottom end. RPM waves back to m8s
The Public have access to the site I quoted above.Good of Aaron to show an alternative way of getting the same thing. They can download everything I can with the exception of software which includes firmware.www.thomsontelecompartne...etail.phpid=104Since the Public do have access to the SpeedTouch Partner site I might just upload the files to my server they cannot get themselves. This would save me a lot of work and maintenance and disk space on the server.I have used 60% of 10000Mb disc quota so far hosting ST files.m8s waves m8s-rates.com/speedtouch
What do you think of the fans I made on a tiny board on tiny legs that sit under the modems etc The wireframe holder and fans are very neat. I hope you have a fan speed controller on it to knock the noise down. Speeedtouch, speedtouch.... firmware fimrware.

UPDATE Port forwarding ST536 Just to put the following into context, I have a ST536v6 and st546v6 both running firmware 6.2.17.5.I did not have any luck with port forwarding. Even though I unbound the SIP application and set unique ports on all the devices (4) it did not obey the forwarding rules. (ie Other random ports were being used not the ones I specified)I then re-bound the SIP alg, removed the forwarding and NAT handling in the devices and they are humming along nicely (5 devices). Here is a link to my config screens with the forwarding. Click HereIt seems whenever the Target Port is 5060 it ignores the forwarding rule. I also managed to set up the Cone nat (at least that's what the Spa2102 reported) but this did not help either.I did some QoS tests and found that it works Very Well. I Sent a 5MB email and the VoIP was unaffected. Interestingly, the Download is crippled during this time also (8mbps connection, max download was 1.5mbps) Once the email had been sent, the max Download speed returned to 6.7mbps. The QoS also appeared to be very effective while downloading as well. All in all the 5x6v6 is looking very good but only because the ALG works for me. (tried sipme, engin, pennytel, voxalot and my quadro 2x) 153554b96e
