On 15 October 2009 the European PlayStation Network was launched. The European PlayStation Network allows users to share, buy, and download games, music, videos, TV and comics. The PSN includes the PlayStation Store and provides an instant messaging service, a game chat service, and a community message board.
The PlayStation 3 Slim was available at a number of retailers, including Tesco, Asda, John Lewis and Argos. It will be available at a number of online outlets including Amazon, eBuy, Play.com, Play.tv, Play.com, Play-Asia.com and the British Sony Store.
The PlayStation 3 Slim launched in the UK at midnight on 1 September 2009. The launch was attended by a number of high-profile celebrities including Peter Kay, Alexa Chung and Danny Dyer. Sony announced the PlayStation Eye for the PlayStation 3. Sony will release the PS Eye for $99 on October 23, 2009, but it will only be able to read text in a small area. Sony will be releasing a new version of the camera with HD and infrared capabilities.
The National Basketball Association announced that it was suspending its developer licensing program for Wii, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. This means that players will no longer be able to buy games, play games, or even watch full games online. It will also affect any games from EA, 2K, and Midway.
The PlayStation Store was introduced at the 2009 Games Convention. Its main features are that a number of games can be downloaded from the store for free; that Games for the PlayStation Portable can be played on the PS3; that the PS3 can play online with other PS3 gamers; and that it provides access to the PlayStation Network.
At the Tokyo Game Show 2009, Ubisoft announced a Transformers game , which will release on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and the Wii. The game has several modes, including missions and multiplayer, and will feature a four-player co-op mode.
