The biggest disadvantage to this service is that most of the books are in print-on-demand PDF format that's not compatible with many e-readers. But when you're on a tight budget, this is a better option than buying books or renting them from chains like Netflix.
THE GONE WORLD: FICTION. The archive of dystopian fiction has given us every dystopian nightmare from literature. From A Clockwork Orange to 1984, many of the most well known dystopian novels focus on the coming of a totalitarian society. Perhaps the most famous of these novels is George Orwells 1984, which warned of the evils of living in a state of constant war and propaganda.
Unfortunately, the public domain holds a pitfall for the small business owner: can you download to paper or just to your computer? For example, I recently purchased a book for my business which I was able to download as a PDF, but I am not allowed to print the document until the copyright is over. To be perfectly fair, I was told by the publisher that I can do this, but you may be limited by the publisher and/or Amazon.
Public domain books are those whose copyrights have expired, meaning they can be copied, edited, and sold freely without restrictions. Many of these books can be downloaded for free from websites like the Internet Archive, in formats that many e-readers support, such as PDF, TXT, and EPUB. Books in other formats may be converted to an e-reader-compatible format using e-book writing software, for example Calibre.
