One of the few things I've seen in the Beta world that didn't work is the HP DisplayLink driver. I was trying to install to a Thinkpad X200 that was having minor display issues - it worked fine for two days, then the driver wouldn't install anymore. I tried re-installing the latest driver (05/24/10), it wouldn't install. I tried a few other versions of the driver as well, no luck.
I ran into a problem while working with the code samples in the article for a Windows Phone project. Since it's an MVC project, the project.json file was missing. I downloaded the sample code from the following link: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/cirrious/archive/2010/01/13/whats-new-in-mvc-3.aspx
Once the installation is complete, the driver should be usable. At this point you will need to disable the standard driver for the Windows 7 Beta. This can be done by opening an Administrator command prompt, entering the following command and pressing enter:
Extract the zip file and copy the rtfx64.inf to the installation location of the Windows Driver Kit. This is the driver file you need to install. The installation itself is straightforward, there is no need for any special tools or steps.
As for how it works - could not find documentation - but my understanding of Aero is it's faked 3D and this driver enables the hardware fx to be used. After installing it all is smooth as glass.
I've no idea why this is happening. There doesn't seem to be a solution on the various forums that I've tried. I'm going to try to find out how to use the second driver I mentioned above, but I doubt that will work. For some reason the HP LaserJet driver doesn't work on Windows 7.
Also works on Windows XP - I just did not test that. Unlike the previous one, which focused a lot on how to get the driver working, this one is the actual posting with information on the HP LaserJet driver. Perhaps it will help someone getting this to work on their machine.
Some people have problems with Microsoft Word 2003 not being able to print the current page, even though it is selected. This is a problem that seems to occur on certain machines (usually when there is a lot of memory, and a lot of open windows).
