While Yasha is the original designer of the game, she's nowhere to be found. It's up to Yubaba to help bring her old friend back from the dead and resurrect her magical spirit. The plot is so well-written and easily digestible that the game's nearly two-hour running time doesn't seem like it's ever going to be up.
As if the story weren't enough, the game has a lot of other things going for it. I was able to achieve a perfect run of at least 50 hours on my second playthrough. Along the way, I befriended several NPC friends, fought tons of enemies, and found many useful items. I'm not saying the game is perfect, but it definitely has a lot of fun to be had.
The game's art style is significantly darker than the typical bright, colorful JRPGs of the past. There are a lot of shadow effects, and the character designs are far more realistic. It works really well, especially in the cutscenes. The world is very well-designed, and the characters are all charming and well-written. The voice acting is top-notch too, and the soundtrack adds to the overall mood.
In Jade Cocoon, players take on the role of a young girl named Yubaba. She's a skilled mage, trained by the powerful witch lady Yasha. The early part of the game will introduce you to Yasha, and a lot of the other characters you'll encounter along the way. As Yubaba grows, she'll find herself helping strangers and befriending a cast of traveling companions. It's a pretty nice change of pace from most of the JRPGs of the past.
Monster Hunter: World is one of the most successful mainline Monster Hunter games to date. The series has expanded to other platforms as well, most notably for the Switch. Unfortunately, these expansions haven't been as successful as their Japanese counterparts.
In this entry, the Monster Hunter series returns to portable consoles, where Monster Hunter: G has a steady sales record; however, the popularity of Monster Hunter: World has made its presence felt.
Monster Hunter World: Iceborne made its debut as a free update on November 1, 2020. The update added four new multiplayer modes, a new Daily Hunt, new cosmetic items, and a new color palette to the game. A second, smaller update is planned for mid-March 2021. Iceborne will also feature a community-built database of monster information. 827ec27edc
