Harvey Williams shares his insight in this masterclass. If you’re interested about double bass, sounds and character, then I’m sure this video will definitely work great. Thanks for the great lesson Tim!
The most well-known and universal instrument of brass is an alto horn, one of ten member instruments of the Saxophone family. Although in common usage this instrument is also recognized as a kind of French horn or heckelphone, it is actually a double French horn, with a bore diameter of 9.8 inches, instead of a common French horn’s 7.5 inches. The alto horn is a wind instrument, with a brass body, consisting of two valves. It consists of a soft, mellow tone, which is best suited to baritone instruments.
While the bass titular is quite difficult, but not impossible to play bowed french horn is actually not such a difficult or challenging instrument, which is only in the domain of virtuoso players. It’s a double instrument with two sounds, which are played in separate bass voice, melodic and contralto.
The double bass, one of the oldest and most popular of all the instruments of the string family, is one of the most complex and challenging. Difficulty increases with position and atmosphere as well as dynamic scale. As a consequence, you can find very few professional players who can achieve pure sound and good tone.
