The Vedas are the holiest, most sacred texts among the Hindus. They are the most widely known and understood texts because they are believed to be the origin of all the main Hindu religion, which are followed by vast majority of Hindus today. They are sub-divided into four major (Vedas) and many sub-branches (Smritis) which contain wisdom and are connected with Hindu religion. Each of the Vedas is believed to be the creation of a unique divinity known as ‘Rik’, which means ‘’to speak’’ in Sanskrit.
